President Muhammadu Buhari has on June 6, Monday, departed Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja for London, United Kingdom. The president, who has ear infection, embarked on ten-day vacation to see his doctors abroad. He was seen off by personal staff, ministers and military officials at the President Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, addressed the press before leaving ostensibly to assure Nigerians that his condition should not be cause for worry. Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, informed yesterday that President Buhari was examined by his personal physician and an E.N.T specialist in Abuja and was treated. However, both Nigerian doctors recommended further evaluation purely as a precaution. Always quick with their reactions, Nigerians across the country took to social media to send out messages of support and wish their leader a speedy recovery, while some questioned the facts surrounding the trip. Concerns over Buhari’s health also grew after he canceled a much awaited trip to the oil-rich Niger Delta last week. There also have been speculations over the president’s state of health since he shelved his scheduled two-day official visit to Lagos state at the last minute and directed Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to represent him. President Buhari is expected to be back in the country in ten days.
